Back to school in Zimbabwe

Back to school in Zimbabwe

As schools reopen, I wish to encourage all children who are returning to schools in Zimbabwe. It is our hope that your journey back to school is safe and undeterred. The United Zimbabwe Alliance (UZA) acknowledges the challenges students in our country are facing due to the myriad of economic hardships. Nevertheless, we urge you to make the most of this opportunity to learn and to grow. Parents and guardians, I encourage you to support your children in furthering their education. You must do all that you can to ensure that they attend classes and complete their assignments.

UZA is also concerned about the welfare of teachers in our nation. Teachers are the backbone of our educational system. Their welfare should be a priority. We call upon government to provide teachers with a decent living wage. Government should also consider measures to better equip all classrooms. Any restraints that prevent schools from providing a quality education for our children must be removed. As such, I strongly urge the government of Zimbabwe to address the concerns of our educators and avoid potential strikes that disrupt the learning of children.

Let's work together as Zimbabweans to ensure that education is accessible and of high quality for all children in Zimbabwe. We wish you all a successful academic year.
